Passenger Update: Frequently Asked Questions Regarding Closure

Flight operations remain suspended at Hamad International Airport following the temporary closure of Qatari airspace, mandated by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority.

We recognize that these extraordinary circumstances cause uncertainty. To guide you, we have compiled the most common questions to provide you with the latest information you would require at this time.

Please stay connected to our official channels on X and Instagram, where we will continue to share updates as they become available. Thank you for your patience and understanding during this challenging period.

Are flights currently operating at Hamad International Airport?

No. Flight operations remain suspended temporarily due to the closure of Qatar’s airspace, as mandated by the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority, based on regional developments.

When will flights resume?

Flight operations are expected to resume when the Qatari airspace closure is lifted by Qatar Civil Aviation Authority and subject to further regional airspace restrictions. Continue following our social media platforms X and Instagram and your respective airlines for the latest updates.

Should passengers come to the airport?

Please don’t come to the airport. We advise that you wait for confirmation from your airline on flight status and bookings, before making travel arrangements.

What will happen once the Qatari airspace is reopened?

Once the Qatar Civil Aviation Authority announces the reopening of the Qatari airspace, flight operations are expected to resume gradually. As we work with airline partners to progressively restore flight operations, please note that not all flights will resume immediately. We advise passengers to first check with their respective airline for the latest information before proceeding to the airport.

Where can I get flight support and the latest information?

We recommend that you check directly with your airline for the most up to date information on your flight, including schedule updates, rebooking options, refunds, and other travel arrangements.

I was scheduled to transit through Doha and want to change my airline for my onward journey. Who can I contact?

At this time, flight operations remain suspended due to circumstances beyond our control. Once operations resume, transiting passengers should contact their airline directly for rebooking options.

Can I rebook my flight through the HIA Contact Centre?

We understand that this is a stressful time for passengers. Hamad International Airport does not rebook flights. Please contact your airline directly for updates and next steps. You can find airline contact details here.

What will happen to my checked baggage during this period?

If you are currently in Doha due to flight delays or cancellations for reasons outside our control, we are working closely with our airline partners to reconnect passengers with their checked baggage as promptly as operationally possible.

Qatar Airways passengers can approach the dedicated Qatar Airways team at the hotels.

Additionally, all passengers including other airlines can contact Baggage Services on +974 4010 1812 or +974 4010 5586

Passengers are kindly requested not to attempt to collect their baggage directly from the airport and should ensure the airline they’re travelling with has their updated contact details.

What happens if I need urgent assistance while I am in the State of Qatar?

The State of Qatar has taken the necessary precautions to ensure the safety of its residents. Authorities have confirmed that essential goods and pharmaceuticals remain available, and supply chains continue to operate normally.

  • For emergencies, including medical, police, or fire services, dial 999.
  • For consular assistance, such as travel document requirements or guidance from your home country during this time, please contact your embassy.
  • For flight related matters, please reach out to your airline directly.

Who is managing this disruption and passenger support?

Hamad International Airport’s crisis response team is coordinating the on‑ground response, working closely with airlines and relevant government authorities to ensure passenger safety, security, and clear information while flight operations remain suspended.
