Travel Seamlessly with Fast Pass

We have partnered with Qatar Airways to introduce Fast Pass, our facial recognition service that uses biometric verification so you can move through selected airport touchpoints with fewer document checks.

What is Fast Pass?

Fast Pass lets eligible passengers create a biometric profile for their journey, supporting a smoother airport experience while maintaining security and data protection standards. Once enrolled during check-in, you can use facial recognition instead of showing your boarding pass at self-service bag drop, automated security gates and self-boarding gates.

Why Fast Pass

Use Fast Pass for a smoother, more secure departure through selected airport touchpoints.

Your Face, Your Fast Pass

Use facial recognition instead of showing your boarding pass at selected airport touchpoints.

More Effortless Departure

Move through bag drop, security and boarding with fewer interruptions along the way.

Secure by Design

Fast Pass is optional and designed with security and data protection in mind.

How to get started

You can start using Fast Pass in two ways, depending on what works best for your trip.

For future eligible departures from Hamad International Airport, visit Qatar Airways to learn how to set up Fast Pass with a one-time registration. Once registered, you can use Fast Pass again on future eligible trips. To learn more, visit the Qatar Airways website.

If you are travelling today or prefer to register* at the airport, use the self-service kiosks located at Row 3. This will activate Fast Pass for your current trip only. See the steps below for more information.

Whichever option you choose, our on-ground team will be available to help you through each step.

Frequently Asked Questions

Here are answers to common questions to help you use Fast Pass at HIA.

Fast Pass is a biometric service at HIA that lets you use your face to move through the airport, instead of showing your passport and boarding pass at each step.
Once you’ve activated Fast Pass, you can use it at selected areas across the airport, including:
  • Self-service bag drop 1, 2, 3 & 4 near Row 3.
  • Dedicated security gates 9 and 10.
  • Boarding gates in Concourses A, B and C.
More areas will be introduced soon. Look out for signage, and our on-ground team is available to guide you at biometric enabled areas.
Fast Pass uses your facial image to link your passport and boarding pass when you register and activate the service. Once set up, you can use your face at self‑service bag drop, security gates, and boarding gates.
The service is available for Qatar Airways passengers with eligible flights. To use Fast Pass, you must have:
  • A valid passport.
  • Your trip starts in Doha.
  • You are 18 years or older.
The service is not yet available for passengers with disabilities, but this is planned for the future.
No, it is optional. If you don’t want to use Fast Pass, you can continue your journey using the standard airport process.
Yes, you should carry your passport when travelling from Doha, as it would be required at immigration or e-gates and in case the biometric cameras are unable to verify it’s you.
You can register for Fast Pass either through the Qatar Airways app or at the self-service kiosks at HIA, near Row 3. Through the self-service kiosks, you will need to register for every single trip and follow the process prompted on the screen. On the Qatar Airways app, it's a one-time registration where you can use Fast Pass on future eligible trips. To learn more, visit the Qatar Airways website.
For Fast Pass to work, a clear facial image is required at each step. You may need to briefly remove items such as masks or glasses when using the service. If your face cannot be verified at any point, you will be asked to scan your boarding pass and continue using the standard process.
The designated checkpoints at Hamad International Airport only use automated facial detection to verify enrollment in the biometric program. Non-enrolled individuals are not identified, and any biometric data incidentally captured is deleted immediately and not retained.
This notice explains how your personal data, including your biometric data, will be processed. You must read and accept the privacy notice before submitting your information, in line with applicable data protection laws.
If you have successfully registered through the self-service kiosks at HIA, your personal and biometric data is secure and used only for that specific trip and is deleted 24 hours after your flight departs. If you enroll through the Qatar Airways app, your personal data is stored on your device and shared with the airport when Fast Pass is enabled for your trip. Your personal data remains securely available in the Qatar Airways app. You can delete your stored data from your device at any time through the app settings.
